According to a recent report by the CIPD; Three-quarters of UK-based HR professionals say their organisation experienced recruitment difficulties in the last year. According to their latest Resourcing and Talent Planning survey, in partnership with Hays. And, 72% of HR professionals expect the competition for well-qualified talent will only increase as a result of the UK’s decision to leave the EU.

These findings highlight the need for smarter, more targeted recruitment strategies to help employers attract and retain the best people in an increasingly competitive labour market. But, their research suggests that less than a fifth of organisations currently measure the return on investment of their recruitment activity, so the majority don’t have a real understanding of their existing talent profile. If organisations fail to measure, evaluate and then strengthen their approaches based on that insight, they’re missing a huge opportunity to improve their recruitment and talent strategies.

The report also reveals the most popular method of selection this year is competency-based interviews, and organisations are placing a renewed focus on improving their employer brands.
