The last three months in recruitment has been an uncertain and fraught quarter. As a business Staff One has continued to expand but this period hasn’t been without considerable reflection. In understanding that we are part of a community with hundreds of staff with individual needs and priorities we have reflected on the direction we wish to follow in the coming years.

Working through a period in which the country has experienced social unrest amidst a nationwide pandemic we have come to understand how important it is to be a socially conscious and ethical employer and recruiter.

Last month we took on another major public sector contract for which considerable resources were required. In an industry first, we partnered with the Yorkshire Regiment Association in order to bolster our resources and provide our client with the best people we could.

The Yorkshire Regiment has over 300 years of history and the Regiment Association supports serving and veteran soldiers alike. In partnering with the YRA we have been able to extend the reach of our recruitment campaigns to the Veteran Soldiers, their families and the families of serving military on bases throughout the UK.

Veterans and family members of the armed forces represent an excellent and plentiful resource for the employment market. Consistently ex forces personnel embody the reliability, trustworthiness and hard work ethic synonymous with the high standards of the British armed forces. Any recruitment organisation or business seeking to tap into this considerable talent pool can be certain to benefit from their skillset and work ethic.

We have been pleased to work with Staff One to achieve our goal of gainful employment for veteran soldiers. In the most recent instance, the wider military community has benefited as opportunities have been extended to those related to serving soldiers on bases throughout the UK. This has had incredible benefits as the Battalion has faced an additional 12 week extension to their tour in Afghanistan due to the Corona Virus.

With this in mind, we have signed the Armed Forces Covenant.
Over the coming months, this step, along with our work with the Yorkshire Regiment will mark a series of moves that Staff One will take to operate in a more socially conscious manner. We will soon confirm a range of initiatives that we will roll out across the remainder of 2020 to make our business one that upholds moral and ethical standards and aspires to be better in all we do.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

In putting the needs of the Nation, the Army and others before their own, they forgo some of the rights enjoyed by those outside the Armed Forces. So, at the very least, British soldiers should always expect the Nation and their commanders to treat them fairly, to value and respect them as individuals, and to sustain and reward them and their families.
