Alisdair Adams - Head of Education Recruitment

Alisdair Adams is an experienced Education Recruiter and a UK-qualified teacher.

His teaching career has included roles in mainstream, SEN, and international schools, with a particularly rewarding time spent at Hatton School in Redbridge, London. He has also served as a School Governor, giving him first-hand insight into the challenges schools face in recruiting and retaining quality staff.

Since 2002, Alisdair has led education recruitment businesses nationally, managing regional teams and working directly with schools to provide high-quality staffing solutions.

Notably, Alisdair was the preferred recruiter chosen to source Principals and staff for the launch of the Harris Federation’s Primary Academies in London.

Through his unique blend of teaching and recruitment expertise, he brings credibility and trust to his work with clients. His focus is on delivering a cost-effective, professional service that adheres to DfE standards.  

Alisdair heads the Education Team at Staff One and along with managing the team still recruits permanent and interim staff across England, with a strong emphasis on SEN.

Assessment & Screening

  • Telephone or Teams/Zoom interview Structured interview with appropriate questions pertaining to the role you are applying for
  • Assessing your experience, qualifications and training - do these match what our client is looking for?
  • Do you have the qualifications required?
  • Do you have the right to work in the UK?
  • Do you have a recent Enhanced DBS?

  • Temporary/Interim Roles

  • The standard safeguarding and compliance documents are required before you commence an interim/temp role. We follow DfE guidelines with regard to SAFER Recruitment.
  • We will be with you every step of the way, guiding you through any application forms to complete.
  • We give you a comprehensive breakdown of what is expected at interview with the client

  • Compliance

  • If you don't have an Enhanced DBS on the update service we can help you apply for a new one
  • For interim and temp roles we will need two proofs of address, NI number, right to work in the UK documentation, and sometimes qualifications such as QTS/PGCE/NPQH

  • Application

  • If you are not suitable for the jobs we have, we can give you feedback on where to seek your next position.
  • Some applications involve a telephone, in person or remote interview.

  • If you have not heard from us within 2 weeks of emailing us your CV, then regretfully you have not been suitable for the role you applied for.

  • Interview Preparation

  • We will consult with you before your job interview about what our client will be asking
  • We will discuss competency based questions
  • We will discuss your knowledge of safeguarding
  • We will discuss your work history
  • We will discuss the ethos of the client/school/organisation that will be interviewing you
  • If you are in SLT we will discuss likely questions around Ofsted reports, Progress 8, SIPs etc......
  • We will discuss what the STAR interview method means
  • Situation - the situation you had to deal with
  • Task - the task you were given to do
  • Action - the action you took
  • Result - what happened as a result of your action and what you learned from the experience

  • Permanent Appointments

  • We will guide you through completing application forms for our clients - some of them can be complicated!
  • Prior to the interview, whether in person or remote, our clients will need to see your 'Right to Work' documents and DBS
  • If you are successful and are offered the role, the client will need access to your documents for their on boarding team
